*Other Recommendations*
Do you prefer a different communications platform than those listed above? Let me know via Signal.
I occasionally use a second cell number ending in 36, especially with known contacts. If for some reason this number interacts with you I will offer an additional verification step to confirm my identity.
Consider using the Tor browser when reaching out to me: Download Tor -> Open Tor -> Create a new email account(or other messaging application account), which you will only use in Tor (here’s one option) -> send me a message… [Full Tutorial]
Consider using the Tails secure operating system when reaching out to me: Download Tails onto a USB stick -> insert the USB into your computer and boot your computer using Tails (here’s a guide) -> once Tails has launched you can use the computer normally to create a messaging account or email account (Tor and other security tools come pre-installed) -> send me a message… [Explainer video]

Background:
I grew up split between Caracas, Venezuela, and Montgomery County, Maryland.
My interest in journalism originally came from my experience watching Venezuela collapse into an autocracy. Eventually, it became dangerous to travel to Caracas, so international radio and television reporting became part of how I remained connected.
My fascination with digital security and its importance in our society came later, after studying the Arab Spring and its aftermath during my undergraduate studies.
I attended St. Marys Honors College of Maryland for my undergraduate studies, where I studied political science and democratic stability.
In May 2024, I graduated from the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at Johns Hopkins University with a masters degree in intelligence, strategy and cybersecurity.
Tip for pitches:
I do not cover surveys, business “studies,” product news or events. I am interested in learning more about cyber espionage, warfare, crime and disinformation/digital propaganda.
Please no PR spam. My reporting is typically more investigative in style and length, so I do not cover quite as many breaking news incidents as some of my peers.
Reuters is a general audience publication and as such, some technical cybersecurity research will be outside our focal area.
Since Spring 2022, I have stepped back somewhat from weekly reporting to help develop Reuters’ cybersecurity reporting team.
About my Twitter:
My Twitter auto-deletes ( https://tweetdelete.net/) old posts. So, if you’re looking for something I said previously or have a question about anything I have written: message me directly.
